The last time i did something for the first time...

… was to go to the Boeing factory. As my father is working in SIA, on our trip to Seattle, we go to visit the Boeing factory. In there, there are many models of airplanes and rockets. Wow! You might say, “boring!!!” Well, let me tell you that we got to stand beside the tail fin or also known as vertical stabilizer of the new Boeing 787 DREAMLINER. We also got to see how it was built and sit in the cockpit of one of the planes. Oh ya! We also got to touch one of the engines of the plane. Cool right!

After looking around at the exhibition, it was time for us to go on a special tour to the real factory itself to take a look at the assembly line. Upon stepping in, I was so excited. The guide then told us about how the plane was to be built and when it would be ready for commercial use. We then made our way back to the exhibition hall. We decided to stay for a while more. As we were looking around I chanced upon a simulator ride. I asked my Dad to let us go on it.

Only two people were allowed at a time so my brother and I went first. We soon found out that this was sort of a computer game whereby we are supposed to destroy the enemies. I got to control the jet while my younger brother got to do the shooting. We also got to know that we could do 360-degree barrel roll (that meant that we were hanging upside down). Double cool. Guess how many we did? Well, we did so many that we lost count! It was so interesting! During the rolls, we could feel our legs dangling! After going for a few more rounds, it was time to go. Great day!

A moment i enjoyed with my family

I enjoy the company of my family a lot as they really are lots of fun. We would go cycling around Singapore just for one whole day or we will go watch a movie or even bowl together. I am really blessed to have such a good family. Let me first introduce my family, I have a family of five with my two parents two younger siblings as well as I. I would say on a whole that my family is generally very happy probably because we have Jesus with us.

Before I tell you one whole story of my family, I better get on to my point. Let me tell you about an activity I enjoyed with them…

It was morning and the sunshine radiated throughout the mountains. The day before, we had arrived at the mountain cabin in the Pyrenees in France. I decided to open my window to get some fresh air. I turned to my window and wow! It was a beautiful sight. There were clouds that had descended on and ringed around the mountain. The clouds were like the sea and the mountains the islands. The scenery was just breath taking. Moreover, the atmosphere was fresh and peaceful and for one moment I actually thought I was in heaven. Soon everyone was awake and it was time for us to go mountain hiking.

After eating breakfast, we were ready. We walked to the path and there started our hike. On the way there were wild blueberries, which I could pick for free and eat. The berries were very sweet and juicy. There were also strawberries and raspberries. As we hiked further in, we saw many small streams and even a river with water so fresh; we could fill up our bottles with it. After the wonderful lunch by the river, it was time for us to carry on our hike further up. It was rather tiring as the roads were not properly paved and some were rather steep. However our efforts were not wasted, as at the top, there was a beautiful lake. We slung down our heavy bags and sat down on the soft mountain grass. The view was just magnificent.

We soon had to walk on and sloppily picked up our bags to carry on. We were now traveling down instead of up. As we were walking down, right before our eyes was the view of the interlocking mountains and the meandering rivers below. Yet, a foot of the path and we would plunge to our death We then reached a river which we followed until we saw a huge waterfall. We were standing on top of it. Wow! The 240 meter tall waterfall looked just wonderful! We held out our palms and allow the splashing water to refresh us. Wow! Spring water better then "Evian"! On the way down, we also saw frogs, tadpoles and even some mountain goats. After hiking for about two hours more, we soon were back at the mountain cabin. Phew! This whole hike took eight hours so you can imagine how tired we were upon reaching back. I really had a wonderful time with my family!!!

A difficulty i faced

I have faced many difficulties like my PSLE, learning how to ski or how to roller blade all these are the many difficulties I had. Today, I faced one of the greatest difficulties I have.

Today was the day of my sailing competition. As sailing was my CCA, I had to take part in many of these competitions to improve my skills. However, I did not expect this to be the most challenging thing to happen to me…

The wind howled as the storm approached, getting stronger with every minute.
I rigged up my boat and prepared. Everyone soon was ready for the first race of the day but because of the storm, a flag was raised that we could not launch just yet. It was supposed to rain but it did not hence the race officials decided to let us launch. I launched when the “all clear” signal was up. Nice wind I thought. As we approached the racing area (which was quite far out in sea), the storm broke out. The wind speed picked up and our sails flapped wildly. The officials however still let us remain there even though I had started to drizzle thinking that the storm would pass. They were wrong!

The rain started pouring and bolts of lightning split the sky in two. “Beee!
” went the signal to tell us to return to shore. My first reaction was “what.” Fear engulfed me as I tried to make my way back to shore. My heart pounded wildly as I saw many sailors capsize. “Help!” I shouted to the instructor who just pretended to ignore me. It was so difficult just going back in strong wind and now there is also rain and lightning! “Have courage,” I told myself. “You still have to get back to shore.” I braved all the elements and before I knew it, I was back safely on shore. I did it!
